What do you plan to do in the future, career-wise?

My future plans are still undecided, but currently I am pursuing a career outside of academia.

What projects did you work on this summer?

  •  I evaluated print advertisements of hard liquor products to determine depicted serving sizes. I then compared what was pictured to the suggested serving size of the pictured liquor.

  •  I used behavioral event modeling to examine, which specific behaviors tend to lead to extreme drinking, and how we can create unique and plausible interventions to decrease risky behavior.

  •  Outside of those projects, I enjoyed editing parts of Brian's book to check for issues of grammar and flow

  •  I also created a poster for an academic conference on consumer perceptions of tofu.

Any advice for future interns?

If you enjoy research and are self-motivated, this internship is for you. There is a lot of "free time,” but you have to be willing and able to create and balance your own schedule of doing research, setting up meetings with other researchers, and of course having fun. I would recommend this internship to someone really interested in academia or a research job, and is dedicated to investigating specific questions and projects. You will learn a lot if you stay focused, utilize the wonderful resources Cornell supplies for research, and let your interests drive your research.
