What do you plan to do in the future, career-wise?

 

Currently I am considering careers in public policy, counseling, and/or freelance work.

 

What projects did you work on this summer?

 

  • I investigated what the perfect size of a snack should be based on analysis of results from experimental studies conducted during a ten year period in which people were given an unlimited allowance of snacks. The question being: how much is enough for consumers?

  • Using behavioral observation data, I drafted a paper on what fast food restaurant changes may be the most effective, other than menu alternations, to encourage consumers to make healthier food choices.

  • I researched and experimented on what food package labels are the most impactful, in accurately conveying the nutritional value of a product on the basis of product selection measures.

  • I explored how the desirability of an image, such as being successful or eco-friendly, potentially affects the taste of a product that is perceived to be associated with a specific desirable image.

  • I drafted literature reviews on the associations between free choice and product enjoyment, and on the influence of veganism’s social image on how consumers perceive the taste of vegan foods.

 

Any advice for future interns?

 

You will get a lot of responsibility and independence doing this internship, so make sure you utilize your resources and time well so you are able to make the most of it!
